Some questions are scary to ask…

Here are some frequently asked questions/concerns you may have, but don’t want to personally ask.

  • Relapse is part of many clients’ journeys. Because you resognated with this question and the word “relapse”, I suspect you have a goal towards sobriety and whatever occurred did not align with your goals. We will explore what occurred and make a plan for moving back towards your goals. You won’t be dropped from therapy, lectured, or reported to family/legal. Please familiarize yourself in the “what are my rights?” section.

If you aren’t sure that sobriety is your goal anymore, please let me know so that we can talk about a harm reduction goal.

  • I’m sorry to hear that our time together isn’t meeting your expectations or current goals.
You don’t have to worry about sharing this with me; no one is for everyone. If you are ready to end sessions, just let me know and we will terminate. If there is something I can do better to support you, please let me know. I am always open to feedback. Your sessions should work for you.

    • HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 both protect your information and confidentiality. Your name, identifying information, and SUD diagnosis cannot be shared without your written consent except with a direct court order.

      • Exceptions exist in instances where disclosure is necessary to protect yourself or others from imminent and foreseeable harm.

    • You have the right to access to your treatment records except in the case that access to such records would cause harm to yourself.

    • If you have active legal involvement or a PO it is possible that he/she may want documentation from me. I would love to provide this documentation with your consent in order to keep you in good standing. That being said- unless you give your consent, 42 CFR Part 2 protects you, and I would be unable to do so without a court order.

    • You have the right to file a complaint with my licensing board

  • You have the right to file a complaint with my licensing board if you believe any of your rights have been violated or I am practicing outside my scope of practice. You can do so at:
